From Backup to State House. Hochul traced the progress of women in New York politics. She spoke to reporter Liz Cho from Eyewitness News in an interview for Women’s History Month. She said she started in politics at age 15. Back then women were seen as backup to male pols. They wrote the speeches and press releases and organized the schedules. Hochul never believes that a woman would become Governor. It has been steady progress since then. Barriers have broken down. Opportunity abounds. From Backup to State House.
