Planes, Trains & Automobiles. The popular 1980s movie was on my mind as I flew this morning to South Florida. The New York airport was deserted. Andrew Cuomo’s lockdown meant closed concession booths. Not so in Maryland, where I had a layover. When the plane arrived in Florida, the state was open for business. No authoritarian shutdowns. Florida is bustling and vibrant, with lower infection rates than New York. It drives home how unnecessary were King Cuomo’s mandates. They have effectively crippled business in the Empire State. Thousands of establishments closed permanently. Many more are limping along on their last legs. All because of one man’s tyrannical rule. Curfews and restrictions have done their worst. Fortunately there is hope through his likely removal from office. Though he tried, one man could not bring mighty New York down. I for one intend to spend some time resting and regrouping. I will continue to make daily blog postings while down here. Planes, Trains & Automobiles. I exited the tyranny temporarily to clear my head.
