Polls Don’t Lie. A recent canvass by Emerson College/The Hill finds 33 percent of the electorate would back both Hochul and the Republican candidate this November. Cuomo would get 16 percent if he should run as an independent. This would throw the race wide open. While he would not win, he would play the role of spoiler. With Hochul’s approval rating tanking, the Republican aspirant would likely be victorious. Lee Zeldin leads the pack of Republican hopefuls, followed by Andrew Giuliani and Rob Astorino. Cuomo has until the end of May to file 45,000 valid signatures to get on the ballot. Stranger things have happened. He remains on the sidelines as he mulls his options. Polls Don’t Lie. The survey suggests the race is far from settled !!
