Adult Survivors Act. The legislation enables victims to sue offenders for sexual assault. New York is one of only 2 states to have such a statute. It was proposed under Cuomo. After languishing it was signed into law by Hochul. Victims have one year to file suit regardless of whether the statute of limitations has expired. It is similar to the Child Survivors Act which lead to a rash of cases. Ironically it may be used against Cuomo by alleged victims.
