State Senator Allesandra Biaggi calls for an end to Executive Orders. The Democratic politician joins a growing chorus of Legislators looking to curb Andrew Cuomo’s abuse of power. She explained: “Just to put this into perspective as to why we need to limit and end the governor’s outsize power, his broad emergency power, is because in just the first six months of the governor’s expanded emergency powers, he used that power to issue 65 executive orders, and to suspend more than 250 laws.” At last there is pullback from our elected representatives. State Government derives from the Constitution. It never intended dictatorial rule by a despotic tyrant. New Yorkers need to contact their legislators to demand an end to this abuse. Then we can rest easy that our liberties are intact.
