Debate Set for Tuesday. The 3 Democratic candidates for Governor will square off in advance of the primary later this month. Frontrunner Kathy Hochul holds a commanding lead over her 2 opponents, Tom Suozzi and Jumaane Williams. Polls have her ahead by 35 to 40 percentage points. Hochul has used the power of incumbency to outpace in media coverage and fundraising. Since assuming office last summer she has consolidated her position as a left-leaning liberal. Not all has gone smoothly. Her backroom deal to fund the Bills stadium reeks of Cuomo’s heavy handed tactics. Nonetheless she is backed by Fat Cat donors.
