It is a classic case of Too Little Too Late. Governor Cuomo has thrown a bone to small business. Upstate restaurants can now seat up to 10 people per table. However, the closing curfew remains at 10 P.M. Patrons must still order food if they want alcohol at restaurants and bars. Upstate gyms and health clubs can now operate at 33 percent capacity rather than 25 percent. These measures are not enough to save failing businesses. Such establishments are still drowning in red ink. To stave off financial ruin, sweeping more aggressive change is needed. It is hard to understand Cuomo’s lack of concern for small entrepreneurs. They are the backbone of the Empire State. Give us a break. Do the right thing and reopen the economy. Then seriously imperiled enterprises will have a fighting chance.
